Coming to your first Lighten Up meditation?
Here are the answers to some questions we frequently get.
- Where do I start? I've never done this sort of thing before.
This meditation group is perfect for beginners, and we welcome all questions! We just ask that you attend one of our introductory sessions first, in order to learn the technique that we use, and then you're invited to attend any of our other meditations and classes.
- What should I wear to the meditation class?
We meditate in chairs (not the floor), so no special attire is required; you can wear whatever you like. Most people come from work. Just be comfortable. If you're a firefighter or a ballerina, street clothes would probably be best.
- Do I need to bring anything?
Nope. Our meditation style is simple. No assembly required.
- Should I eat first?
Have a bite to eat if you're starving, but don't eat a big meal right before the class, else you might get sleepy.
- How long is the class?
Our Intro classes are usually about an hour. We do several short (5-minute) meditations during the class. In our group meditations, we do longer sessions, sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes 15, sometimes much longer... it's up to the group!
- What type of meditation is it?
It's a fun, practical, simple method that is really easy to learn. We're a nondenominational group that is interested in helping people develop their own ongoing practice of meditation. And, this technique really works — meaning, it's easy to learn and easy to stick with it. We hope you'll come discover it for yourself at our next class!
- How much does it cost?
Nothing! All our public classes are absolutely free. Come check us out and see if what we do resonates. We're building some momentum with really interesting people who are curious about making real change in their lives. We'd love to have you join us! No hidden catch, we promise -- we're doing this because we love meditation and want to share it with the world.
Let us know if you need more info about anything! (email firstname.lastname@example.org) Looking forward to meeting you soon.
